In dialogue with IPSO: Mental health and migration
Dear community,
every October, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), organizes Mental Health Week — a global campaign that aims to draw attention to issues that are sometimes not talked about openly.
In collaboration with the International Psychosocial Organization “IPSO”, we have published a series of informational videos in Ukrainian, Arabic, Dari, and Farsi, in which we talk to the organization's psychosocial counselors about issues that affect many migrants and refugees in Germany. Among other things, we address important questions such as:
- Why is mental health particularly important for this group?
- What obstacles are there to seeking help?
- How can loneliness, impulse control, or intergenerational conflicts in families be dealt with?
Together with IPSO, we want to raise awareness of mental health in different communities and help overcome the stigma surrounding mental illness and therapy.
The videos will be published on all platforms of the “Handbook Germany: Together” project as well as on IPSO's platforms.
Important news: The “saba app” offers psychosocial support for people with migration experience and is a safe place to reflect and for honest conversations.
You can write openly about anything that is bothering you and discuss all your difficulties and experiences with professional, reliable, and empathetic counselors who speak your native language. The online consultations take place on a special platform where all information about you, the events, and conflicts that traumatize you remain confidential. You can use the app completely free of charge.
Best regards,
Mila, “Handbook Germany: Together” and “IPSO”
It is good to know where to seek help when you need it!
Thanks for sharing.
