Elterngeld for father

Can you please help me?

I’m a mother-to-be this week.

I haven’t worked in the past 4 years.

My husband works full time (brutto ~5,000 €).

He plans to take Elternzeit for the first 2 months after birth.

We want to split Elterngeld like this:

Month 1: 1,800 € (husband)

Month 2: 1,800 € (husband)

Month 3–14: 300 € (mother)

Question: Is this possible?

Someone told me the father cannot get Elterngeld in the first 2 months because of Mutterschutz, and that only the mother can claim during that time. Is that true?
