Family reunification

Hello dear sir/madam.

Please accept my greeting and gratitude.

I am a full-time student at public university in Germany. I come to Germany on student visa and living with resident permit. As Afghanistan has fallen suddenly, my family is not safe in Afghanistan because of my previous employment with American and Afghan government. I had my saving at Afghan bank, but the Taliban blocked my account. Now I cannot invite my family as on my own expense.

So, is it possible to open case for my family here in Germany?

if yes how is the procedure?

To whom I need to contact?

What document I need to provide?

Hello @Jam.shirzai , I am sorry to heat that the Taliban blocked your account. Currently it is very difficult to bring non immediate family members to Germany. Please see about the hardship rule explained below. In the future there might be a so called “Aufnahmeprogramme” so a third person can take over the costs for the family also known as declaration of commitment or “Verpflichtungserklärung.” However, there are currently no concrete programs. I will update you once they are made official. Here is some general information about family reunification and declaration of commitment: Unfortunately, the family reunion for immigrants is only for the immediate family. That means for your spouse or children. If you want to bring other family members to Germany, there must be a case of "exceptional hardship" for underage siblings and other family members. In these very rare cases, one may be issued a visa per Section 36 (2) or Section 22 of the Residence Act, also referred to as a "hardship rule". You can read more about it here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/family-reunification-for-immigrants The other option is a so called “Verplfichtungserklärung” or declaration of commitment for a long term national visa. This would mean that you must proof that you can financially support your family members when they come to Germany. Depending on the visa this is between 2,410-3,935 Euros of net income per month. Thank you for the overall valuable information. I mean my wife and three sons. My main question was that I am here on student visa studying my master course. I am not Asylum seeker. However, I want to open asylum seeker case for my wife and sons. So how to open case for them.

Hello @Jam.shirzai , unfortunately, there is no way to open an asylum seeker case for your family if they are still in Afghanistan.
