Family Reunification for Afghans

Hello. I have been granted refugee status (AsylG) 3 under statement 1. Now I want to apply for family reunification to book an appointment for my family. During the application which category should I select "National Visa" or "Subsidiary Protection"?

Thank you for your time.

Hello @afghan , thank you for reaching out to us. Great news that you were granted refugee status. . The family reunion process can take quite a while for some countries. Unfortunately, neither the national D visa nor the subsidiary protection category is correct. You should be able to choose another category for recognized refugees. This will grant you an easier procedure for family reunification considering you apply for family reunification within the first three months of the decision from BAMF. You can read more about the the family reunification for refugees here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/family-reunification You will have to apply for the timely notification within the first three months. This is an important document to keep safe. Here is the website where you can apply for it this timely notice. https://fap.diplo.de/webportal/desktop/index.html#start - Finally I would encourage you to seek advice. I can help you find advice for the process of family reunification as it is not always so easy to manage by oneself. I can help you search for an advice center near you, if you let me know the city you live in. You can also use the BAMF navi to search on your own: https://bamf-navi.bamf.de/en/Themen/Migrationsberatung/ I hope that you will soon be reunited with your family. Please let me know if you have further questions. Best wishes

Hi @afghan  ,

I wanted to check if you could receive a counseling from a migration center about the family reunification process.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

All the best
