Finding a psychotherapist

It feels like its' impossible to find a therapist that will accept new patients, let alone finding a good fit. Are there any tricks or techniques to finding a therapist (covered by public health insurance) in Berlin? Or if video therapies are thing, other German cities would also be fine.

Hi @yeni , don't despair! If you are a student then you can use the services of your university usually this is much quicker then going through the regular process. The first step in receiving a place at a therapist is doing the first psycho-therapeutic consultation-(psychotherapeutische Sprechstunde) if you already have done this and filled out the so called PTV11 from, great! You can do this at any therapist. They do not have to be the ones that will counsel your further. The second step is finding a therapy place, as I understood, this is what you are struggling with. Indeed it's not easy to get a place and please just keep trying and calling various therapist. You can try using this search engine, its in German but quite intuitive: https://psych-info.de/#ort and this one: https://www.kvberlin.de/fuer-patienten/arzt-und-psychotherapeutensuche Concerning video sessions, this could also be an option which has increased following the pandemic, try contacting various therapist outside of Berlin. Best wishes to you, let me know if you have any other questions. Yara
