Gas Bill and liabilities

Hello,

I recently received a gas bill of in excess of €6000. SWM are telling me that this is for 5 years as I never sent meter readings, however these were sent yearly via post.

Does anyone know if this can be challenged, they are maintaining they are right and won’t even listen to my arguments.

Surely there must be something I can do?
