Passport expiration

I’m traveling to Germany from the US tomorrow with dual citizenship and a layover in Amsterdam. I’m traveling for a week to visit family and attend a funeral. 
My US passport is still valid, but my German passport expires on March 9th. Will I still be able to travel with my German passport or will I face complications with my airline and customs?
