SCHUFA for foreign students

I'm a foreign student (citizen in Italy) who has never paid for anything in Germany. Should I pay to get the SCHUFA paper? Would it be useless? Are there alternative ways to prove my trustworthiness as a payer even though I have never lived in Germany?

Hi @lolito19

Foreign students can also get a SCHUFA. You get a Schufa record when you: Open a bank account, Get a credit card or a loan, Get a mobile phone contract Sign up for private health insurance, Pay for something in instalments, Don’t pay your debts. So without having any trail in Germany, I don't think you can get it.

But if you have a financial trail, according to German law, you are entitled to receive a free Schufa report once a year. So, no need to pay! https://handbookgermany.de/en/schufa

If you need it for renting an apartment and for some reason you can't get it, some short-term apartments might not require it.
