social security contributions Germany
Is it mandatory for me to pay the social security contributions in Germany when my life situation is as follows: I am a danish citizen living in Denmark with my family. I am employed by an austrian company located in Vienna. I pay tax in Austria and in Denmark. My Work Base is in Germany, and I work 120 days per year, including commuting, of which approximately 70 days per year I stay in Germany. The rest 50 days of the120 working days are in different European countries. I don’t pay tax in Germany, does not have a German Tax Id (steuer id) and don’t have a bank account or an adress in Germany. When I am in Germany I stay at different local hotels, paid by myself. The Mandatory German Social Contribution is being deducted from my Austria Pay Slip, and is yearly approximately 14.000 Euro.

Hello @Lasse , thank you for reaching. Unfortunately, we are not experts in taxes. Usually the social security contributions, if you are employed, you company is in charge of deducting the amount from your payslip. If you work regularly in Germany this could be an indication that they also have to pay social security contributions.
I found the following information on this: https://www.tk.de/firmenkunden/service/fachthemen/ausland/social-insurance-no-registered-office-in-germany-2103744
I would reach out to your company and ask them to make sure. It would also be beneficial to reach out to an expert as well. Just to be sure not to miss anything.
We also have more information on taxes in general and where you can receive help here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/german-tax-system
