Visiting a doctor

Hallo! I have registered my daughter to kindergarten and they need a document from a peadiatrician that she is healthy and can attend kindergarten. The problem is we have recently arrived in Germany, we are EU citizens and have a valid European Insurance Card but the doctors here can not examine my daughter and give us the specific document because we are not insured in Germany. What can I do now?

Hallo gch86 ,

Thank you for contacting us. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) should be valid in Germany. You should go directly to a doctor who has a contract with a German health insurance company. You can find a list of registered doctors here: https://www.kbv.de/html/arztsuche.php. Details of the card you can find on this website: https://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=1021&langId=en&intPageId=1738 You can also talk to the Kindergarden and ask if you can bring them the document from the paediatrician in your home country. Thank you very much Barbara! The doctor that we visited is mentioned in the results I got after visiting the link you gave me but the secretariat there refused our card.
