Wedding appointment but no chance for a timely visa

I have been working with a registry office in Germany regarding my wife’s wedding appointment for over a year. She currently lives in Afghanistan. Now, my application has been approved, and we are allowed to get married in mid-September. I have researched and wanted to apply for a visa for my wife, which is only possible at the moment either in Islamabad or Tehran. I have registered in the queue there, but the waiting time is over a year. Now, I face the problem that I need the visa for my wife beforehand to ensure the September appointment can take place. Are there any options to get the appointment earlier? Has anyone had experience with this?

Hey @Mo91 , thank you for contacting us with your question.

As community managers of an online forum, we cannot give you any specific information about how long it will take to get an appointment at the embassy. We are not part of any government institution and do not know their internal procedures. But perhaps other members of the forum have experience with this? As you said, your wife can apply for a visa in either Tehran or Islamabad. The German Embassy in Kabul is closed.

I understand that you have applied for an appointment for your wife and that you are on the waiting list for an appointment. Unfortunately, the process takes a long time and a waiting period of about a year for an appointment is common. The website states that the waiting time for an appointment is currently over a year: https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_category.do?locationCode=kabulvisa&realmId=769&categoryId=1401&request_locale=en

In the meantime, you can prepare all the documents required for a marriage visa. The documents are listed here: https://afghanistan.diplo.de/af-en/05-visaeinreise/2699872-2699872?openAccordionId=item-2699872-4-panel

If you have any further questions, please let us know. Best wishes Barbara
