Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
My son is in Germany, just arrived, got a call from home to say he has whooping cough (pertussis) and needs to get an antibiotic. Are there specific rules around whooping cough in Germany

You should inform the health department (Gesundheitsamt) that your son has a Keuchhusten: https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/Infekt/EpidBull/Merkblaetter/Ratgeber_Per… Also there are strong recommendations to limit contact with others.
