Permanent residence in another EU country, just moved to Germany

Hello,

I am a non-EU citizen who have got a permanent residence in EU member state. I have moved to Berlin on August 13, 2024 and I am staying at a friend's place until September 03. From that date I will move to an apartment which I have booked. I do not have a job yet, but I am looking for a job. I know that I am allowed to work in Germany. My question is, should I declare my address to German authorities now? And should I ask for a personal number in Berlin while I do not have a job yet ?

@Victoria__Ray thank you for your reply. First of all, you should let the German authorities (Bürgeramt) know your new address within two weeks. This is a legal requirement in Germany, which helps to make sure you can get important communications and services: https://handbookgermany.de/en/registration Every resident in Germany gets a personal number, which is a unique identifier. Even though you don't have a job yet, it's still a good idea to get a personal number. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
