Hello, I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. There may be organisations or charities that provide support for families in crisis, but the right advice depends a lot on where you are now and where “home” is for you.

Can you share which country you are currently in and where you need to return to? That will help others point you to the right services or assistance programmes for flights and family support.

Looking forward to your answer.

Hi Anna,

We are in the US and home is Germany, I’m sorry I should have added that. Thank you for your fast response

I’m really sorry to hear what you and your children have been through. I’m not an expert, but I think it is unlikely that any organization would cover the costs for you. Only in very rare, well-defined cases can short-term financial help be provided, such as covering the cost of return flights — but you would need to repay these funds later.

I would recommend reaching local domestic violence shelters in the US (where you are now) or family support organisations can help with emergency travel costs — they may also connect you to charities that cover flights.

Also, you could contact the German Consulate or Embassy where you are now. If 'home' means you are German residents/citizens, they might provide advice or point you toward assistance for returning home.

It may take reaching out to a few organisations, but don’t give up — explain your situation clearly.

Have you already spoken with the German consulate in the US about your case? They may be your best first step.

Hope you will be safe soon

Anna

I’m really sorry to hear about your situation, and I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you and your children. For immediate help with flights, I’d suggest reaching out to local charities, NGOs, or church groups that specialize in helping families in crisis they may know about emergency assistance programs. It’s also worth contacting your country’s embassy or consulate, as they sometimes support with repatriation.

Once you’re safely back home and starting fresh, every bit of savings can help. You might find useful deals and discounts for essentials on savingsays, which could ease some of the financial burden.

Wishing you strength and support during this transition.
