18b Residence Status
I have recently completed my master’s studies in Germany. I am currently staying in Germany with a job-seeking residence permit and am actively applying for jobs related to my academic qualifications. If I receive a permanent full-time employment contract as a crew member from Burger King, Is it possible to change my residence status to 18b?

Thanks for your question and congratulations on completing your Master’s degree in Germany!
For a residence permit under §18b, the job you take should be a qualified position, meaning it normally requires a university degree or recognized vocational training. Unskilled or simple jobs usually do not qualify. A crew member position in a fast-food restaurant would generally not meet the requirements for §18b, so it would typically not allow a change of your residence status.
You can continue to use your job-seeking residence permit to look for qualified positions.

Keep in mind that the local immigration office makes the final decision in each case.
