about bluecard and new law

Hello, if I sign an employment contract and start working this month so that I can get a Blue Card, when the new law takes effect, can I apply for family reunification for my parent? Or will this option only be valid for those who get a Blue Card after the law takes effect?

Hello @sinandoganli , thank you for your question on our platform. Unfortunately, the new regulation that allows skilled workers to bring their parents will only come into effect if one receives their residency permit on or after 1st of March 2024. Here is the complete information I found on the "Make it in Germany" website: . "Facilitated family reunification for skilled workers: Spouses or minor children moving to Germany to join certain skilled workers will no longer be required to provide proof of sufficient living space. In addition, these skilled workers will also be able to bring their parents and – if the spouse is also a permanent resident of Germany – their parents-in-law to join them if they receive their residence permit for the first time on or after 1 March 2024." Source: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/skilled-immigratio… I hope this information was useful. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Best wishes

Thank you for your reply Yara, If I get an appointment from the consulate in my country after signing an employment contract, does the "blue card process" start for me? Or do I need to wait until after March 1st even for the appointment?

you are very welcome, @sinandoganli . Yes, if you have applied for a blue card visa they process will start. You do not have to wait for the 1st of March 2024. However, as mentioned above the easier family reunification will only be granted to those who receive their blue card for the first time on the 1st of March 2024 or after.
