ALGI & Chancenkarte application
Hello All,
Grateful for any direction on the possibility to receive ALGI if I am issued a chancenkarte?
I have lived in Germany for 2 years, my job contract and EU Blue Card both expire in mid January 2026.
I am registering at the Agentur für Arbeit as well as applying for the Chancenkarte at the same time, and have read conflicting advice as to whether you can receive ALGI whilst on this visa? I believe that I should but have seen that it can be refused / misunderstood/ there can be some obstacles.

I am sorry to hear that your contract is ending. It is great that you already took action and applied for the Chancenkarte and registered yourself with Agentur für Arbeit! Those are important steps.
ALG 1 does not have any negative effect for your application for a Chancenkarte. It is proof for securing your livelihood, which is one of the requirements for Chancenkarte. You can read more about the Opportunity Card on Handbook Germany.
