Am I eligible for permanent residence

Hello dear,

I came to Germany to do my masters in April, 2021. I then switched to other masters program and will graduate on July, 2025. I have B2 German language. Since i landed my foot in Germany I have been working at a student Job and fully providing for my expense. Can I then apply for PR during the 18 month job seeking period after my master studies (assume I am working full time while looking for a job related to my studies during the).

Studies time - 4.5 years

Job Seeking time - 1.5 years

Thank you In advance

Hallo @YonDe  , thank you for getting in touch. If you have successfully completed a university degree in Germany and have a residence permit as a skilled worker or researcher, you can benefit from a quicker procedure. That means that you can apply for a permanent residence permit after 2 years of having a residence permit as a skilled worker or researcher. Furthermore, you are required to have contributed to the pension insurance for 24 months and of course you must have a job. You can find details on our website: https://handbookgermany.de/en/permanent-residence-migrants Please, note that you can only obtain permanent residency from a work-related stay after completing your studies (skilled worker, researcher, freelancer, etc.). If you have any further questions, please let us know. Best wishes Barbara
