Applying for Asylum during Study

Hello Dear Sir/Madam
My name is Amiri, and I'm from Afghanistan I was a senior employer of Afghanistan Government. I've been accepted into the Master of Science in Economic Behavior and Governance program at the University of Kassel for year 2023-24, and I came to Germany ?? through study visa.
Can I apply for asylum during my study or I have to stop my study for applying to asylum?
Thank you in Advance.

Hi @Amirizabiullah Thank you for your question. Congratulations on the start of your master studies! If I understand correctly, you are already in Germany and started your studies. Since your stay is secured until the completion of your studies, it is highly recommended to contact a migration counseling center before you decide to apply for asylum. After that you are aware of the advantages and disadvantages and make an informed decision what option is best for you. Please note that during the asylum process there are restrictions until the asylum process is completed. Here you can read sme more information of which typed of residence permits exists and their rights: https://handbookgermany.de/en/right-of-residence In Kassel there are some counseling centres. However, I looked up two counceling centres which are close to the city: Diakonisches Werk - Region Kassel Wildemannsgasse 14 34117 Kassel 0561-70974-203 info@diakonie-hessen.de http://www.diakonie-hessen.de . Youth migration services (JMD) (Until 27 years) JMD Kassel (Caritas) Die Freiheit 2 34117 Kassel 0561 7004-133 jmd@caritas-kassel.de https://www.jugendmigrationsdienste.de/jmd/kasselcaritas You can also look up the closest one to your home: https://bamf-navi.bamf.de/en/Themen/Migrationsberatung/?coord=534165.56…; . Additionally, I would like to share with you other options that you can consider after graduation: 1. You have the possibility to change your residence permit as a student to a job-seeker. Then you have 18 months time to find a job and can also start working independently from your employer. 2. Alternatively, you can apply for jobs within your valid residence permit - if you want to stay and work in Germany. However, if you receive a work contract starting immediatlely after your graduation, you have to apply for a work permit at the foreigners department. Your residence title is tied to your employer for the first 2 years and must be re-approved by the foreigners department if you change jobs within the first 2 years. Additionally, you have advantages with a German degree to apply for a permanent residence permit after 2 years of employment. You can find more information here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/permanent-residence-migrants#faq_547 Happy if you would like to share your intentions so that I can support you more specific. Please let me know if you need any further assistance or have further questions.
