Can a student with student residence permit switch to language visa while in Germany?

I had was exmatriculated. I had finished my thesis and I failed one course last attempt. Before the last attempt I had an urgent call that my mother was sick, I managed to write the exam but couldn't perform to my full capacity. Now I want to attend a German intensive language course until the next semester so I can transfer my ECTS achieved. My question is, will this be possible while still in Germany? I don't want to go to my country to apply as the process would take 2 years.

Hello @EZRAmann , thank you for reaching out to us.
I am sorry to hear that your mother is ill and that you failed the exam.

In general, you can switch to a language course before completing your studies or after finishing them. The language course needs to be an intensive course, I believe it cannot be less then 18hours a week. You have to show enough income and have insurance. During the language course you can work for up to 20hours per week.

Is it correct that after you have completed the intensive course, you want to continue your studies? I would also reach out to your universities support center to ask if you can continue your studies after the intensive German course.

If you have further questions, please let me know.
Best wishes
