Change of bluecard from 18b to 18g

Hello team,

I have been living in germany since 2019 august and currently having bluecard since 27months wherein i am eligible for PR and have all other documents like A1 certificate etc..,

Now that when i applied for Pr process officer said that i have bluecard with 18b not with 18g as i was converted in august 2023 .

As she is asking me to provide B1 certificate not the A1 for the PR.

I have seen similar case in our community group and mailed her back with same info but she asked me to extend the bluecard .

How can i proceed further and provide me some suggestions to explai her to process my PR.

I have also scheduled a call with counsil what should i need to clarify with them before my visa appointment

Hello dear @srijer45 , thank you for your question!

The 18b residence permit for skilled workers is not a blue card. A Blue Card is issued under 18g. As a skilled worker holding a residence permit under 18b you can apply for a "Niederlassungserlaubnis" or PR after three years of residing in Germany and you will need a B1 certificate. Here you can read more about the requirements to apply for a PR as a Skilled Worker with 18b.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Wishing you all the best :)
