Citizenship application without having PR

Hi,

the client, livig in Germany since 20 years and has a residence for family reason (he has a 16 years old german kid). and he has been jobless for couple of years.

could he apply for citizenship, in case he meets all the requirements now (finds a job and stop the Bürgergeld)?

or does he need to apply for PR first? (which in his case, it won't be granted  right now, since he has not paid 60 months of Renteversicherung)

Hi there, @Golshan__(Community_manager) , I have read your question and can give you the following answer: it is not necessary to have a permanent residence permit to apply for German citizenship. If you fulfill all the requirements you can get the German citizenship with various other residence titles as well. However many migration offices expect a regular income for at least two years before applying. If you have any further questions please let me know. Good luck. Susanne
