Clarification Regarding Study Visa Appointment for Afghan Nationals
I am an Afghan national and I applied on April 2024 for a study visa appointment through the following link:
https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_categoryList.do?locationCode=isla&realmId=108
I would like to confirm whether I have used the correct platform. The page refers to the “Appointment-System of the German Foreign Office — Islamabad,” which seems primarily intended for Pakistani nationals. However, I am certain that I selected "Afghan" as my nationality during the booking process.
I also came across another link for the “Appointment-System of the German Foreign Office — Kabul Visa,” which is as follows:
https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_categoryList.do?locationCode=kabulvisa&realmId=769
Could you kindly confirm whether I have applied correctly as an Afghan student? If not, I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the correct procedure.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Hi @Shirza ,
Welcome to our forum!
According to current information on both the Kabul and Islamabad embassy websites, regular residents of Afghanistan must submit their online application for an appointment through the Kabul embassy website. Otherwise, the application might not be processed. The Islamabad embassy website states explicitly: „ATTENTION: Applicants from Afghanistan need to register on the Website of the German Embassy Kabul, any registrations here will be cancelled!“
This information was confirmed by a colleague who has more insight into visa processes for Afghan nationals. Unfortunately, you did use the wrong platform. You’ll need to submit a new application here, and you can choose Islamabad in the ‚German mission for your application‘ section. It is stated that the current waiting time is over 12 months.
Let us know if you have any further questions, and good luck with your application!
Best wishes
