Hi! I’m not a legal expert, but I’ll try to share what I know.

The Declaration of Commitment (Verpflichtungserklärung) is usually issued at the local Foreigners’ Office (Ausländerbehörde). Unfortunately, in many cities, appointments are hard to get because of long waiting times. However, you should contact them as soon as possible.

Try contacting your local Ausländerbehörde by email or phone: some offices allow you to request an appointment by writing directly, especially if it’s urgent.

If there is a possibility to get an appointment through online Terminvereinbarung, check online regularly: new slots sometimes open early in the morning or late at night.

In some German cities, such as Offenbach am Main and Wiesbaden, the declaration can also be submitted via online application. But the office needs to be your local, just check your possibilities.

It may take some persistence, but people often succeed by checking regularly and following up directly with the Ausländerbehörde.

Good luck!

Anna
