financial aid

I am writing to request financial assistance for my Master’s studies at RWTH Aachen University, where I have been accepted for the Summer Semester 2025 and this university was my dream.

I am profoundly committed to academic excellence and societal contributions. Recently, I have organized free webinars to share knowledge and am currently engaged in writing an academic article in the field of Applied Geoscience. However, due to the challenging economic situation in my home country, financing my education and living expenses has become a considerable challenge.

Pursuing this degree is an essential step towards achieving my professional goals and contributing to Applied Geoscience and doing some research activities. I would greatly appreciate any financial support or guidance you could offer to enable me to focus fully on my studies and academic growth so I can handle my financial support money.

Dear @Bani72@ ,

happy new year and welcome to our forum!

First of all, congratulations on getting accepted to your dream university.

We are an informational platform and cannot offer you financial support. However, we can share some information on different possibilities of financing your studies.

This is a good place to start: https://handbookgermany.de/en/student-finance

Since you mention that you want to be able to fully focus on your studies, BAföG and scholarship might be the ideal options for you.

You can find out if you're eligible for receiving BAföG depending on your residence status (only in German, you can try using a translator app or plugin): https://www.xn--bafg-7qa.de/bafoeg/de/das-bafoeg-alle-infos-auf-einen-blick/_documents/bafoeg-auch-ohne-deutschen-pass.html?nn=383852

And here you can find general information on BAföG: https://handbookgermany.de/en/bafoeg

Unlike BAföG, the benefit of scholarship is that you won't need to pay anything back: https://handbookgermany.de/en/student-finance#faq_1763

https://www.rwth-aachen.de/cms/root/studium/im-studium/~ehg/stipendien-foerderung/?lidx=1

Another idea is to work at the university as a student assistant ("studentische Hilfskraft"). This way you can earn money while working in your academic setting: https://www.rwth-aachen.de/cms/root/Die-RWTH/Arbeiten-an-der-RWTH/~buym/RWTH-Jobportal/lidx/1/

And here you can find general information about student jobs: https://handbookgermany.de/en/student-jobs

Other than those, a student loan can also be an option.

I hope this was helpful and let us know if you have more questions. I wish you good luck with your studies.

Best wishes

Seoyoung
