Help with Business Setup in Germany for Non-EU Citizens

Hello!

I’m a Turkish mechanical engineer living in Hungary, and my business partner and I want to establish a company in Germany to develop a 3D printer prototype. We’re non-EU citizens and need some guidance on the following:

  1. Is it necessary to have our diplomas recognized in Germany to start a business?
  2. Do we need a residence permit, or can we apply for a specific visa for company formation?
  3. What are the steps and documents required for non-EU citizens to set up a business?
  4. Are there any grants or support available for startups in sustainability and innovation?

Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello @Numan Gürkan  , Thank you for contacting us. If you would like to set up a business, you need a residence permit for the purpose of self-employment. To obtain this permit, you must meet a number of general criteria. For example, you must have a business plan that demonstrates commercial interest or regional demand for your product, and you must have secured financing for your business: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/working-in-germany/setting-up-bus… Please, consider contacting the advice centre for foreign entrepreneurs: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/working-in-germany/setting-up-bus… I am sure they will be able to provide you with detailed information. You will also find information on our website that may be of interest to you: https://handbookgermany.de/en/entrepreneurship I wish you the best of luck in setting up your business. Best wishes, Barbara
