How afghan nationals can file application for German Chancenkarte

Hey There,
Hope you are doing well, This is Khalil Danish a software developer from Afghanistan looking to apply for a German Opportunity Card, but as you are aware there is no German Embassy in Afghanistan at the moment and I'm contacting you to check and clear a few questions regarding German Opportunity Card for Afghan nationals:

1- Are Afghan nationals eligible to apply for the Opportunity card?

2- Can I file my application from the German embassy in Islamabad since we don't have a German embassy in Afghanistan?

3- For filing my application what are the steps with the embassy, and how can I start?

These are my questions and I would be so grateful for any assistance or clarification that you can provide.

Best Regards

Khalil Danish

Hello @khalildanish , thank you for reaching out to us. I will try to answer your questions here.

  1.  Yes, as an Afghan national you can apply for the Opportunity card, it is important that you fulfill the requirements.
  2. Usually, you have to apply through the website of the German embassy in Kabul. You can find the information here: https://pakistan.diplo.de/pk-en/service/-/2208620
  3. First steps would be to check if you can fulfill the requirements for the visa, here is more information https://handbookgermany.de/en/opportunity-card. Then you will have to book an through the website of the Germany embassy in Kabul.
  4. If you need support in the recognition process, this centre can help you, if you are abroad: https://www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de/html/en/pro/service-center.php

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best wishes

Wow, Thank you, and appreciate the assistance, it answered all my questions and even beyond that with those references.

I followed up on the references to the Kabul German embassy website I read that appointments take up to 1 year and 6 months, is there any alternative option for the appointment like the German embassy in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) or Tehran (Iran) or maybe in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to have less time for appointment?

But before appointment, I want to make sure these alternative german embassies I mentioned do provide services for Afghan nationals.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @khalildanish ,
I am happy that my references helped. Yes, unfortunately waiting times are very long for Afghan nationals.

For long term visas only the German embassies in Tehran and Islamabad can issue long term visas.
Please see the following page from the German embassy in Kabul for more info:
https://afghanistan.diplo.de/af-en/05-VisaEinreise
If you have already lived in Tehran for 6months with a valid residency you can also book the appointment via the embassy in Tehran, this might be a bit faster. Please also check this on the website.

Best wishes
