Dear @Kabdelaziz

Thank you for your question.

To study in Germany, there are specific steps and requirements you need to meet. The most common path is to apply for a university degree program or a vocational training program (Ausbildung).

To study at a university in Germany, you need a school-leaving certificate that is recognized as equivalent to the German Abitur (high school diploma). If your certificate is not recognized, you may need to attend a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) in Germany for one year before being eligible to enter a degree program. Most undergraduate programs are in German, so you will need to prove language skills at B2 or C1 level. Some Master’s programs and international courses are available in English, but those usually require a recognized Bachelor’s degree.

If university study is not an option, another possibility is the dual vocational training system (Duale Ausbildung). This is a paid training program that combines classroom learning and hands-on work in a company, commonly in fields like nursing, hospitality, logistics, or crafts. For this path, you generally need a secondary school certificate, basic German skills (at least B1), and a company in Germany that is willing to offer you a training contract. Ausbildung is a good option for people without academic backgrounds but who are motivated to learn a profession in Germany.

To study in Germany, you must also apply for a student visa under §16b of the Residence Act.
