Is humanitarian financial aid considered income for taxation?

I`m Ukrainian currently live in Germany on temporary protection rights. In case I receive the money from individual on my Germany account with the purpose "charitable humanitarian aid for temporarily displaced person" (not regular but rather one-off payment) - shall I include this into my income for the purposes of income tax payment or will it be excempt? Thank you

Hello @Olga85
Thank you for your question on the forum.

In general, all income must be declared for tax purposes. However, depending on the amount, purpose and regularity, it is possible that this will not be taken into account.

On the other hand, if you receive benefits, it is obligatory to inform the Jobcentre.

In any case, you can contact the tax office if this is necessary.

Kind regards
Daniela

Thank you Daniela. I`m not on Jobcentre. I`m working and my income is currently within 0% tax threshold. That is why I badly need to understand whether this financial aid payment would change it. anyway, thank you very much.

Hello again @Olga85
I have done some more research. A sum of money in your bank account marked with this special purpose could be considered a donation instead of income.

To be clear, I would suggest you contact the German tax office "Finanzamt".

Kind regards
Daniela
