Hello @Asteria-1990 , thank you for reaching out to us and asking your question on our platform.

It is great that you are applying for Studienkolleg!

In general, you can change the purpose of your residence to a residence for studies.
You will have to have proof of your acceptance for the Studienkolleg, it is also good to check with your local immigration office what other documents you will need. In general, you will need to show that you have enough funds to cover your everyday life. The amount depends on where you live.

Please have a look at our information page for important hints on the application procedure:

If you want to let me know where in Germany you are I can also help with looking for the requirements at your local immigration office.

It would be great if you can keep us updated on your application. This is also valuable for other community members.
If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Best wishes

Hi @Asteria-1990

Unfortunately, with a student residence you are not allowed to receive support from the Job Center. You can see if you can apply for BAFöG.

We also have more information about student finances on our page.

Regarding starting later, I am not sure if this would cause an issue as long as you apply for the summer semester and while your other residence is still valid, it should not be a problem.

Here you can find he documents needed for the immigration office in Osnabrück.

Please keep me updated on the process with the application and let me know if you have any further questions.
