Hello, I understand that you're in a very difficult and frightening situation. Seeking asylum is a legal right, and you should not be afraid to exercise it. Our experts from the @LIFE Initiative will provide you with the information you need. Best wishes Barbara

Hi @Elvis , thank you for your inquiry. I'm sorry to hear about your difficult situation. These answers are provisional, as we do not know your exact situation and cannot give legal advice.

To begin with, here’s an important piece of information: You can only apply for asylum if you are in Germany. To briefly summarize the process: Within Germany, you would need to contact the German authorities, i.e., the immigration office, an arrival center, or an initial reception center, and inform them that you want to apply for asylum. You will then be taken to an initial reception center for refugees to register. You will either be given an appointment with the BAMF ("Federal Office for Migration and Refugees") at the registration or later by mail. At this appointment, you will officially submit your asylum application. More information can be found here: https://life-initiative.org/hgt-registrierung-als-asylsuchender-12-2024-en/. Since you stayed in the Netherlands in 2022, it is likely that the Dublin Regulation applies to you. A Dublin decision has determined that another European country (in your Case the Netherlands) is responsible for your asylum procedure. You can be deported there within approx. 6 months after this country has declared its responsibility. Once the 6 months have passed, Germany is responsible for your asylum procedure.

What can you do next?

I hope this information is helpful for you. If you have further questions, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Franziska
