Important Information for Refugees from the Ukraine without Ukrainian Citizenship!

If you have a residence permit in accordance with Section 24 AufenthG but do not have Ukrainian citizenship, you must apply for a new residence permit by 4 March 2025, otherwise you may be required to leave the country from 5 March 2025.
This applies to you if you. 

1. Do not have Ukrainian citizenship 
2. Had a temporary residency in Ukraine 
3. Your residence permit was issued before 1st of February 2024

The application can be sent informally by e-mail or fax to the foreigners authority. It is sufficient to write:

"Hiermit beantrage ich eine Aufenthaltserlaubnis zum Zweck der Ausbildung, des Studiums oder der Erwerbstätigkeit."

I hereby apply for a residence permit for the purpose of training, studying or gainful employment.

Alternatively, you can apply for a residence permit for humanitarian reasons. it is important that you register with your responsible immigration office before 4 March 2025, otherwise you will be obliged to leave the country from 5 March 2025 and all previous entitlements (work permit, entitlement to social benefits, etc.) will lapse. if you have any questions, you can contact a local migration advice centre or us.
