Inquiry About Chancenkarte Eligibility as a Public State Employee

Hello, i would like to ask whether my current employment status as a an employee of the public state affect my eligibility or ability to apply for the Chancenkarte visa.

If being employed in such position is an obstacle, would it be helpful if I officially take a 12-month unpaid leave (vacancy)? And in such a case, would providing official proof of this vacancy be sufficient for the visa application, or would I also need to update my passport, which currently states that I am an employee.

Hello @Power , thank you for getting in touch. Just to confirm, are you asking if you can apply for the Chancenkarte while being employed in your country? Best Barbara

Yes, I am currently employed as a public sector employee in my country, but I am actively seeking other opportunities and I meet all the other criterias required for the Chancenkarte, including holding a university degree recognized with H+ status in Anabin.

I would like to understand if my current employment status poses an obstacle to applying for the Chancenkarte. If it does, I have the possibility to officially take a 12-month unpaid leave (vacancy). In that case, would providing official documentation of this leave be sufficient for the application, or would I also need to update my passport, which currently states that I am employed?

Thank you for your guidance.

Hey @Power , thank you for clarification. You can get an opportunity card if you're employed in your country. You don't have to be unemployed to apply for it. You can come to Germany with an opportunity card without having to give up your job. You can also take a holiday. If you need more info about an opportunity card, there's a link here:
