Inquiry Regarding Blue Card Application Process
Dear sir/madam,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to inquire about the process of applying for a Blue Card in Germany.
I am currently employed as a researcher at a university of Applied Sciences, and I have been working here as a skilled worker from last year. It is important to note that I am not in Germany as a refugee, but rather as a skilled professional.
Could you kindly provide me with information on the steps involved in applying for the Blue Card? Any guidance or assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Warm regards

Hello @Afghanistan123 ,
welcome to our forum.
Before answering your question, I need to inform you that we’ve removed your name, workplace and email address as we want to protect our users’ data privacy.
Here you can find thorough information about requirements for obtaining a EU blue card: https://handbookgermany.de/en/eu-blue-card#faq_431 And also here: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/types/eu-blue-card
In general, the job must match your qualification and entail an employment duration of minimum six months. In your case as a researcher, I assume that you meet this requirement. Also, you will need to earn at least €43.800 of annual gross salary (as of 2024). If you work in shortage occupations („Mangelberufe”) or you’ve finished your degree within the last three years, you will need to earn €41,041.80 (as of 2024). I couldn’t find the job title ‚researcher in computer science department’ or an equivalent in the list of shortage occupations but maybe it’s still worth taking a look.: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/fileadmin/1_Rebrush_2022/a_Fachkraefte/PDF-Dateien/3_Visum_u_Aufenthalt/2024_Mangelberufe_EN.pdf
If you meet all the requirements, you can apply for the blue card via immigration office responsible for you. Let us know if you have more questions.
Best wishes
