Minimum hours/ minimum salary requirements for Work Visa?

Dear Handbook Germany Team,

I hope this message finds you well!

I am currently on a job-seeking visa after obtaining my MA from a German University last fall. However, I am struggling to find a job. So far, the offers that I have gotten are "qualified jobs - needing BA degree or equivalent work experience" of around 18-25h/week, in which case the salary would fall around 2100 EUR/month Brutto. I am unsure as for whether I can obtain a working visa (*not* EU blue card) with these hours. So far the information I read online seems to not indicate a minimum hour/salary range.

Of course, thank you very much for your help in advance!

Best regards

Dear @TC thank you for reaching out to us!

It’s great you already found a qualified job; this is one important requirement to get the residence for skilled workers.

Yes, you are right there is no exact minimum wage. In general, your will need to be able to cover your livelihood, this means that you are not suppose to be eligible for social benefits. (Bürgergeld)
This means that you should earn around 910 euros monthly /Netto plus your rent including bills. If you earn less then this, it could be that the immigration office will not grant you the residence.

For other community members interested in skilled workers residence please read our chapter for more information.

Please keep me updated on the process with the application and let me know if you have any further questions.

Best wishes
