Moving to Germany

I was born in Florida USA. My father was German, and as an adult I have obtained a German passport. I've made a couple of trips to Germany, which I truly enjoyed. I am older now, age 71, and wish to learn if I can move to Germany to live there. What would I need to know to be able to do this. Thank you.

Hello @hans_clausen , thank you for reaching out to us.

With a valid German passport you can live in Germany. Before moving you would need to check what type of health insurance suits you. In order to live in Germany you are obliged to have health insurance.
You can read more about the types of health insurances here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/health-insurance

You will also need to register yourself, this means once you find housing you will need to register yourself at the local registry.
We have more information here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/registration

If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Best wishes
