Moving to Germany from another EU country with 20 weeks pregnant

Hi,
I am a Non-EU person and currently live with my husband in another Schengen country. We are moving to Germany as he got a good job offer. I will be approx 20 weeks pregnant at that time. Can i get some guidance on what should be done after we arrive there? Will i be able to get Midwife, Gynaecologist, Hospital appointment and get proper care as i am not there since starting of my pregnancy?
What should be the first things i should do after arriving to Germany (Berlin)? Can we get GP instantly after we arrive and also Gynaec and Midwife? It will so much helpful if i can get some useful information.
Thanks very much.

Hi @vish , welcome in advance to Germany, and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Your access to health care depends on your health insurance. If your husband is employed and has public health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung), you may be covered through family insurance at no extra cost. If he is privately insured, you may need to arrange your own private health coverage. Please, ask his employer’s HR to help clarify this: https://handbookgermany.de/en/health-insurance

Please, visit also our Website for detailed information about pregnancy: https://handbookgermany.de/en/pregnancy

If you arrive in Germany and intend to stay for more than 3 months, you must register your address at the Bürgeramt: https://handbookgermany.de/en/registration

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Best wishes, Barbara
