My wife residence situation after getting my PR

Hello

I have a question regarding my wife's residence situation after me getting my PR this year.
I came to Belrin in 2021 with blue card visa which give multiple benifits for the holder and one of them the family reunion without any German language experince. My wife joined me late 2022 with family reunion visa and as mentioned without any language experince. Now, her residence permit will expire next year Feb (02-2025) does she needs to get the A1 certificate to get her permit renewed or she will not need it? She is already studying German and she can apply for the test (she will actually) but I just want to understand the case here.

thanks for your help in advance

Hello Berliner1991,

thank you for reaching out to us. To give you a good information, please write me what kind of title your wife has (§29 or §30?). I am waiting for your answer. Best Barbara

Hello Barbra;

Thanks for getting back to me.

She has a §30

Hello @Berliner1991  , If your wife wants to renew her residence permit, it will be on the same conditions as she did it the first time, on the basis of your blue card. Even if you no longer have a blue card, your permanent residence is based on the blue card you had. So she does not have to show a language certificate. If you have any further questions, please let us know. Best Barbara

Thanks a lot Barbara for the answer. What about the duration of staying outside of Germany? Would it still be 1 year for my wife or it will be 6 months ?

Hey @Berliner1991  , You will need to ask the immigration office how long your wife will get the extension. Best wishes Barbara
