Opportunity Card - Blocked Account

This is my another query related to the Opportunity Card.

I would like to know if the deposit needs to be made beforehand when applying online using the new CSP.

As the preliminary review might take some time and blocking such high amount for too long while waiting for just the preliminary review might cause complications. During the preliminary review, there could be other queries raised so only if the blocked account requirement remains and everything else is approved then blocking the figures would make more sense.

Unless manual process of applying at the mission is chosen where, of course, everything gets submitted all at once so in this blocking the figures beforehand is the only option.

Thanks!

Hello @achoud90

Thank you for your question.

Although we do not have direct insight into the internal procedures of German missions abroad or the technical operation of the CSP, it is generally the case that the system expects proof of a fully opened and funded blocked account at the time of application, even during the preliminary review phase.

Just like in the manual visa application process, your online application via CSP typically does not begin official processing until all mandatory documentation is complete and uploaded. This includes financial proof such as the blocked account confirmation.

We completely understand that blocking such a large amount of money in advance can be difficult and stressful—especially when there is still some uncertainty about the outcome. However, it may help to know that there are several well-established blocked account providers that are aware of this issue. Many of them offer quick account setup, and many guarantee a full refund if the visa application is ultimately denied. We recommend checking their conditions in detail and choosing a provider that best matches your risk tolerance and timeline. (Unfortunately, we cannot name any particular one here)

We hope this clarifies your concern, and we wish you the best as you move forward with your application.

All the best!

Thank you for your feedback. I had gone ahead and made the deposit as if the visa is denied, the blocked account provider allows to reverse the funds with a small fee which is understandable. Though their initial application fee of €89 would not be returned unfortunately.

I also bought insurance and this is what's concerning as the insurance application asked for start and end date of coverage so I entered the same dates that I mentioned on the application itself. I hope the insurance provider can also refund if the visa is denied. I have contacted them just in case and awaiting a response.
