Permanent residence for the spouse of a Blue card holder

Hi,

I am a blue card owner (nonEU), and I will apply for permanent residence. I am living in Germany for 3 years.

My wife is also living in Germany for 3 years, migrated with me to Germany with family reunification (nonEU). She has B1 level of German.

The question is, can she also apply for permanent residence?

If she cannot, what happens if I get the permanent residence? Do we need to do any changes on her permit?

Thx!

Hi @md, thank you for reaching out to us. If you become a permanent resident, your wife can also apply for permanent residency. For example, she must work at least 20 hours a week and have completed an orientation course. You can find details here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/permanent-residence-migrants#faq_552 If you have any further questions, please let me know. Best Barbara

Thanks Barbara, appreciated.

Can we apply together at the same time, or should I get the PR first, and then she can apply?
