Permanent residency after 27 months

Hello team,

i live in karlsruhe, i am a holder of EU blaue karte. I have  A1 level german. I want to apply for the permanent residency after 27 months. Do i need the “Leben in deutschland” test as well?

Yes, in order to receive the permanent residency you will also need to pass the "Leben in Deutschland" test.

With a Blue Card, as you rightly mentioned, you only need to have made pension insurance contributions for 27 months, have a suitable job and speak German at A1 level. If you speak German at level B1, you can obtain a permanent residence permit after just 21 months.

@Yara_Community Manger The "Leben in Deutschland" test is used not only to demonstrate basic knowledge of the legal system in Germany, but also language proficiency at B1 level. How can then this test be a requirement when the required level for an EU Blue Card holder is A1?
