Is Physical Identification Card required after Anmeldebestätigung?

Hi all,

I am here in Germany on EU Blue Card, and I have just completed the Anmeldebestätigung (i.e. Proof of Residency). Would I need to get a physical Identification Card?

If yes, may I know how? If no, then how do I identify myself in case of emergency?

Hi,
thank you for reaching out.

In general, when you come to Germany on a visa you should apply within three months for a residency car/plastic card. You can do this by handing all the paperwork needed for the Blue Card to your local immigration office.

Thanks for the confirmation. My challenge here is that I have been trying to call/contact the Ausländerbehörde (Immigration Office) but it was always unsuccessful.

I have also tried to registered online but I got the following reply: Aufgrund der von Ihnen angegebenen Informationen benötigen Sie in der Regel ein Visum von einer deutschen Botschaft, um ein und Beschäftigung in Deutschland zu betreten. Sie können dieser Service daher nicht fortfahren.
This is a preliminary assessment by the online service. Für verbindliche Informationen wenden Sie sich bitte an das zuständige Einwanderungsbüro.

So I feel a bit stuck here, as I am not sure how to proceed next. Would you be able to advise, please?

Unfortunately, many people struggle with contacting the immigration office

Do you mind telling me which immigration office is in charge for you?
Every immigration office has a slightly different procedure

Thanks for the link - and yes, I have looked into it. I did the following:

- Option 2 --> Aufenthaltstitel für die Erwerbstätigkeit
- Option 1 --> Ich möchte erstmalig einen Aufenthaltstitel zur Erwerbstätigkeit beantragen.

In the following page, at the Aufenthaltsstatus / Angaben zum Aufenthalt (Residence status / Details of the stay) - that is where is got the notification below which says I cannot proceed further:

The confusion I have right now is that I do have an EU Blue Card Visa attached to my passport from German Embassy prior to arriving in Düsseldorf... Hence I am not sure what to do next.

OK, thanks for the reply. What fields did you select before this message regarding the German embassy comes up?

I just tried it and if you type in the date when you entered Germany, you answer the question if you have left Germany for longer then 6 weeks, then they ask you if you have already received your residence from the foreign office/Ausländerbehörde. Finally they ask you if you have received a visa from a German embassy/forgein mission.
There you can upload the scan of your visa in your passport.

Hi @Ning

The EU Blue Card is a valid residence permit in Germany. Therefore there is no need to ask for any other residence permit in addition to that. What I found on the website https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/de/visum-aufenthalt/arten/blaue-karte-eu

is the following information:

"Die Blaue Karte EU wird als Einreisevisum in der Regel für zwölf Monate ausgestellt. Nach der Einreise muss innerhalb dieser Zeit der entsprechende Aufenthaltstitel bei der zuständigen Ausländerbehörde beantragt werden."

That means, that within 12 month you should address to the local Ausländerbehörde. I would recommend to book an appointment and wait.
