Proof of funds for Aufenthaltstitel zur Arbeitsplatzsuche
Hallo,
My 18d residence permit will end in the autumn and, according to the Aufenthaltsgesetz § 20, I may apply for a Befristeter Aufenthaltstitel zur Beschäftigung with up to 18 months' validity. My wife and child will also require new residence permits and their applications will be included with mine. (see, https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/324661/)
My question is twofold: How much proof of funds must we show when applying? And, does this amount take into account the number of applicants (three from the same family)?
Vielen Dank im Voraus,
Dr Meral
Hello Dr Meral,
Thank you for joining our platform and for your question.
There is no fixed minimum income. However, it is essential that living expenses are secured. This means that there must be no entitlement to benefits in accordance with (Sozial Gesetz Buch II) SGB II, this is for example Bürgergeld.
For orientation that would be around 563 Euros plus your rent and health insurance for one person.
Please note that this is just an orientation. This proof can be shown via a block account for example.
If you have worked in Germany with the residence permit 18d for a longer time, you might be eligible for unemployment benefits. Receiving unemployment benefits from the Agentur for Arbeit is a good way to proof that your livelihood is secured. Of course the amount has to be enough to cover your rent, insurance and daily needs. The money received from the Agentur für Arbeit is usually around 60% of your Net income.
Please contact the Agentur für Arbeit to find out if you are eligible. Usually, one is eligible if you have been employed for the past 12months.
Regarding your other question, if your family members are tied to your residence, for example if they came to Germany through family reunification, then the application will have to show proof to cover their livelihoods too.
I hope this information was useful, please let me know if you have any further questions. Your experience with the process would also be of great value to other community members in the forum. Please feel free to share your experience here.
Best wishes
