Qualified to apply for Citizenship

Hello, my question is, am i qualified to apply for citizenship? My situaltion is that i came to germany as a student about 6 yrs ago, while as a student i worked and paid the pension contributions. I got married to a german citizen 3 years ago but stayed on my student residence. I recently changed my residence to a married status. My question is, do i qualify to apply for citizenship now or must i wait for 3 year.
I have a B1 language certificate and a german university degree.

Hi there @hjdbdndk6738

Thank you for contacting us. From what I read you already fulfill all the requirements about your length of legal stay in Germany. So there is no need to wait any longer. However there are more pre-conditions to fulfill for naturalisation than just the residence time in Germany. As you mentioned you need a language certificate but also a naturalisation test (Einbürgerungstest). For all the pre-conditions see the website https://www.einbuergerung.de or contact us here: https://www.passtgenau-bzi.de

Good luck!

Best wishes

Susanne

Thank you @Susanne_Pass[t]genau for the answer!

I also want to add that, you mentioned that you have a university degree in Germany. If you finished your university degree in certain subject such as, but not limited to; political science, law or administration, you can be exempt from taking the naturalization test (Einbürgerungstest).
We answer the question "Do I need to take the Naturalisation Test?" on our website:

Let us know if you have any questions. It would also be of great help for other community members if you let us know your experiences of getting the citizenship.

Some questions which might be interesting for the community:
How long did the process take?
In what city did you do the process?

Best of luck, hope to hear from you soon.
