Query regarding Opportunity Card

Let's say I came to Germany on an Opportunity Card, got a job, and then got a blue card. Then, if I am fired during probation and only have 3 months to find a new job, and that date is nearing, do I need to, or can I apply for another opportunity card, or is my previous opportunity (given the date) still valid?
Can I apply for another Opportunity Card or is there any kind of extension in this scenario?

Hello @Craig12 , thank you for reaching out to us.

In this scenario the old opportunity card is no longer valid once you receive the blue card.
If you lose your job within the first months of having the blue card you will have to inform the immigration office regarding the job loss. They might then shorten the residency this depends on the immigration office.

You can apply for the opportunity card again, if in the meantime you have had another residency, for work.
However, you would have to fulfill the requirement of being able to cover your livelihood.

More information on the Opportunity Card can be found here:

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best wishes

Hey @Yara__Community_Manager
Thanks for the information
Good to know I can re-apply for Opportunity Card if that happens.

Opportunity Card gives you 12 months, and if you find a job and lose it, then that only gives you 3 months, weird. People should be cautious so as to not rush into a job

Thanks
