Hello @Echo thank you for reaching out to us again!

In general, it is possible to open a blocked account for just 6 months.
However, please note that your visa might then only be granted for 6 months without the option to extend, as the proof of financial means for a longer stay would be missing. Additionally, some German embassies specifically require proof of a blocked account covering a full year.
If you let me know where you plan to apply for your visa, I can check how the local embassy handles this.

Lastly, I would like to mention that you are able to compensate for the missing amount by taking on a part-time job (up to 20 hours per week).
Here you can find additional information about the opportunity card.

Happy to get your feedback. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you for getting back to me, @Echo

As far as I can see, the checklist for the Opportunity Card from the German Embassy in Tunisia is from 2024. Nevertheless, it requires a blocked account for the standard visa duration, which is usually one year, with a monthly amount of €1,091 (as of 2025). You can find the checklist in German or in French. Unfortunately, the website in Arabic is not updated.

Please note that you can substitute the missing amount by presenting a part-time job offer (up to 20 hours per week). A work contract can be used as proof.

I hope this helps! Wish you all the best and please let me know if you have further questions.
