Question About Student Visa Application for Afghan Students Afghanistan Section

Dear Handbook Germany Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I am an Afghan student who has been admitted to a German university and have fulfilled all academic requirements necessary for a student visa application. I submitted my visa appointment request on 27 January 2025 under the previous waiting list system of the Afghanistan section at the German Embassy in Islamabad.

I recently learned that, from January 2025, the Embassy introduced a new Consular Services Portal, requiring online pre-submission and pre-screening of documents before being placed on the waiting list.

Could you please clarify whether my existing registration remains valid, or if I must re-register through the new portal to secure my place in the queue? In other words, do I need to register again in the new portal, or can my previous registration still be considered?

Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I really appreciate your help.

Best regards,
Muska

Welcome to our forum, dear @Muska72

Thank you for reaching out to us. First of all, congratulations on your university admission! this is great!

We can understand that the current situation is very difficult and bureaucracy is hard to follow. Do I understand correctly, that you are still living in Afghanistan and registered yourself for an appointment to apply for a student visa at the German embassy in Islamabad. Did you waitlisted through the appointment system of the website of the German embassy of Kabul? Since the embassy in Kabul is closed, you still need to register yourself through their website. There you can choose the German embassy in Islamabad. Unfortunately, the waiting times are currently about 12 months.

In case I understood something wrong, please reach out again or in case you have further questions.
Wish you all the best and a soon appointment!
