rent an apartment

Hi,

i live in a city which far away from my work place, it is far away more than 60 km. my refugee status still is not clear. only registered by Social. but i have permanent work contract. so, i want to rent an apartment where i work. can i? and what is the procedure?

Hi @Shadan , Thank you for your question. If you are currently in the asylum procedure, then you will have to check if the so called “Residenzpflicht” still applies to you. This means that you usually must stay in the area allocated to you for a certain time. There are also exceptions to this. The regulations are slightly different in each federal state. But since you are still in the asylum procedure this might apply to you.
