Travel documents

Dear sir/ma’am,

I hope you are doing well. 
 

I have my 3 years residence permit, when can I apply for my travel documents? I have passport of my country, do I have to submit my country’s passport in order to get travel documents passport of Germany?

Hello @khanan , thank you for reaching out to us. I am doing fine, thank you. I hope you are doing well too. . You can usually apply for your travel documents at you local immigration office in Berlin. You can see the requirements on their website: https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/325471/en/ One of the requirements is that you hand in your previous travel document. However, you should not be asked to go to the embassy if you hold refugee/asylum status. . There are different type of travel documents, depending on the type of residency you have received. For example if you have received a refugee status then you should receive the blue passport from BAMF. You can find more information on the blue passport here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/blue-passport Please note that as a recognized refugee one is not allowed to travel back to one's home country, otherwise the refugee status could be revoked. .
