Welcome to our forum, @NON

As far as I understand, the person is still officially under her vocational training contract but has a 4-week holiday and plans to travel within the Schengen area before starting her new job.
If that is the case, there should generally be no problem with traveling, as long as her residence permit is still valid at the time of her return to Germany.

To be on the safe side, she may also consider contacting the responsible foreigners department to confirm this.

I wish her a safe trip and all the best!
Please feel free to reach out if there are any further questions.

This sounds like you are still in your contract and with a valid residence permit. Since you will return within your valid status, traveling sounds fine. Nevertheless, please note, that we cannot give you any legal advise, so you should get a confirmation from your resposinble foreigners department.

Additionally, I will ask a counselor for another opinion and will get back to you as soon as I receive an answer.

Hello @NON
We received an answer from our expert:

She would strongly advise against traveling because the residence permit expires immediately if the training contract has been terminated. It also always depends on the authorities how quickly they terminate the residence permit.

In theory, the authorities could revoke the residence permit as soon as they learn of the termination and issue a certificate of toleration with a work permit. When leaving and re-entering the country, the federal police could contact the immigration authorities and they could say that there is no longer a right of residence. Our expert believes the risk is too great and advises against traveling.

Best regards

Daniela
